Olympic Education Program for Schools
The NOC of Turkey has been running an Olympic
Education Program
directed at primary, secondary, high school and university students and
teachers.
In order to motivate the
youth to participate in sports and educate them through sport, we organize
activities such as seminars, video presentations, panel discussions,
painting and composition contests with the themes of Olympic Sports,
Olympism, and Olympic games are organized every year. Approximately 1,000
students are given presentations at the Olympic House Conference Hall or at
schools every week. Printed educational materials are provided for the
students and teachers.
With the recognition of the importance of the Olympic Education through the NOC of Turkey activities, two universities in Istanbul with the Physical Education Departments, Marmara University and İstanbul University have started teaching Olympism,
Olympic games history and Games Organization classes for undergraduate and graduate classes since 1997. The NOC of Turkey has also been providing educational material for those universities.
