Free of Charge Sport Schools

 The Women’s Commission of the NOC of Turkey has started “Free of Charge Sport Schools” Project in 1996.  This program is being implemented in Istanbul’s underprivileged and lower income areas for children and youth living in the neighborhood who do not have an opportunity to practice sports due to lack of sport facility or financial difficulties. 

 In the first year, around 1000 children in 9 neighborhoods had chance to practice sports through this project.  Due to enormous interest we have increased the number of schools and regions over the years in order to give opportunity to more youngsters to practice sport and educate them in Olympic spirit.  This year 6.000 children and youth in 18 regions have been participating in this project.
